I am surprised that Tommy Lee Jones did not get an Oscar for this performance. He was simply OUTSTANDING as Deputy Marshal Sam Gerard. Harrison Ford is a great job as doctor David Kimble. This is one of the few TV shows turned to movies that is better than the original TV show. The storyline was realistic. Many drama/action movies add things that do not belong, such as explosions. This movie did not use them or needed them. The acting was explosive enough. This is a must for any DVD collection.

Can you picture anyone other than Harrison Ford playing Dr. Richard Kimble? Can you picture anyone other than Tommy Lee Jones playing Marshal Gerard? The Fugitive is one of the rare remakes. It took an established entertainment product (The Fugitive was a hugely popular television show in the 1960s) and redefined it for new viewers. Older movie goers might not have been able to accept Ford and Jones in their roles, but for the younger movie-goers, the actors inhabited their roles so much that they became those characters. Tommy Lee Jones has been living off of his hard boiled image established in The Fugitive for the past decade. The Fugitive pretty much tells the same story that the TV show did. Dr. Kimble comes home from work to find his wife dead and he becomes the prime suspect. Dr. Kimble is then sentenced to death after his trial. During the transport back to jail, some of the other prisoners attempt a daring escape, resulting in Dr. Kimble escaping the transport bus himself. Now free himself, Kimble attempts to clear his name by finding his wife's murder, he's looking for the infamous one-armed man. Kimble is able to stay one step ahead of the US Marshals trying to relocate him, lead by Gerard. Directed by Andrew Davis, the movie features the right about of action and classic whodunit to keep viewers guessing. The scenes that were most effective were the ones that Kimble hides in plain sight as a janitor, where every person that looks at him might be the one who turns him in. The ending is satisfactory, in so much we finally see Tommy Lee Jones smile. Perhaps we can pause that moment and tell our kids that it did happen once.

I grew up with this movie, and have realized as I have grown older that James Newtown Howard's score is perfect. Sometimes I hear similar music in newer movies (sometimes composed by Howard himself), and it brings me back to my childhood, growing up with Harrison Ford being chased through a St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chicago by Tommy Lee Jones. The music aside, the movie keeps a breakneck pace throughout. The empathy built for Ford is perfect, and although you feel for him, you somehow manage to route for Jones as well. Masterfully put together as a game of cat-and-mouse, The Fugitive has come to define what good crime/action/thriller moviemaking is. I came of age watching this movie, and in a way, it will always remind me of, well... itself.

I forgot until I watched it again how much I enjoyed this movie. Tommy Lee Jones is perfect as the honest, dry, and determined deputy marshall Sam Gerard, and his people are a wonderfully likable crew. He and his crew are what "Chain Reaction" was trying so hard to copy with the FBI crew -- and didn't do nearly as well. Harrison Ford gives a very convincing show as the grief-stricken and overwhelmed Doctor Richard Kimble. The viewer feels that he is only just managing by the strength of his will to get through this ordeal. The plot is delicious in itself, but it is really Tommy Lee, his cop crew, and Harrison that earn this movie all A's.

Harrison Ford is perfect as Dr. Richard Kimble, a man accused of brutally murdering his wife. But on the bus taking him to Death Roe, a prisoner with a knife hidden in his boot stabs a police officer on the bus, eventually leading the bus to tumble down the hill right in the middle of some train tracks. And sure enough, a train comes by, runs straight into the bus, and crashes. But thankfully, our hero escapes just before the collision, and he escapes before the police and medics get to the scene. At first, I thought I wouldn?t like it because it looked like the Bourne Identity (which I love) but a lot darker. I didn?t want that, I like movies I can enjoy, not movies that scare me to death. Anyway, it ended up being darker than B.I. (Bourne Identity) but not as much I thought it would be. I liked The Fugitive, it was a movie where you didn?t know how exactly it was going to end, but I thought that BI was cooler. BI has coolio fight scenes, and makes you feel more apprehension for the hero. I recommend seeing BI instead of The Fugitive; but if you?d like something a little movie realistic that BI, or if you?ve already seen it, then rent The Fugitive. PS for some reson the detective in this movie got an academy award.

I cant really tell what Harrison Ford's best movie really is, but I know that this is one of his best. Its funny, I really dont know why I love this movie so much, but I just do, anyway enough fancy talk - about the movie! Excellent movie, a true masterpiece, It keeps you on the edge of your seat from the shocking beginning with Kimball's wife being brutally murdered, to the supensful, action-filled ending which reveals who was behind the whole conspiracy, which I'm not going to tell who it is because that will ruin the whole movie for you. The story is very good, very simple with a few twists between scences, but it'll all make perfect sense in the end if you paid attention during the last half hour of the movie. The acting is one of the reasons this movie is so good. Great performances from Harrison Ford and especially Tommy Lee Jones as U.S. Marshall Sam Gerard. I can't really explain his character in one word so i'll write it out, he's arrogant, funny, very bossy and controlling, and yet he plays a great cop when he's in a bad situation. The direction was also very good. I like how Harrison Ford manages to save that little boys life in the middle of the movie, that made the movie a little more touching for some people. I can't say much about the visuals, although the bus/train wreck was awesome and very realistic. And the settings of the movie were good, from forest to tunnels to city lights. Overall this movie is one of the best in years, it still remains in my top five favorite movies even after seeing great action movies like Spiderman 2 and Van Helsing. Its an action/adventure movie, but it still has lots of suspense and some humorous lines with Tommy Lee Jones. SORRY IF THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN TO LONG,IM ALMOST DONE I PROMISE! There is one more thing id like to add, sorry to the review board for going against the guidelines but i had to add this in the conclusion. There is a movie with funnyman Leslie Neilsen (the Doctor in airplane and the star of the naked gun series) called WRONGFULLY ACCUSED making fun of mostly The Fugitive and a couple other movies.
