The score sets the tone - The Fugitive Reviews
I grew up with this movie, and have realized as I have grown older that James Newtown Howard's score is perfect. Sometimes I hear similar music in newer movies (sometimes composed by Howard himself), and it brings me back to my childhood, growing up with Harrison Ford being chased through a St. Patrick's Day Parade in Chicago by Tommy Lee Jones.
The music aside, the movie keeps a breakneck pace throughout. The empathy built for Ford is perfect, and although you feel for him, you somehow manage to route for Jones as well.
Masterfully put together as a game of cat-and-mouse, The Fugitive has come to define what good crime/action/thriller moviemaking is. I came of age watching this movie, and in a way, it will always remind me of, well... itself.
